It all started one evening after Alilia came down for midterm
break. I had a "hot date" planned and little did she know that
I was going to ask to marry her. Anyway it started out that I came over
to get her to go out to eat. We went out to the cheesecake factory, which
frankly I have no idea what I ate. I remember having to pace myself otherwise
I would have been done 20 minute before she would have been done. So anyway
we finally left and I asked her if she wanted to go a "little ride".
Well she said sure. So we drove and drove and drove. About an hour and a
half later (little drive) we were at cocca beach. Im sure she was thinking,
what is he doing? Or she probably figured out something was up. But I didn't
care the point was we were at the beach. The night air was really cool and
the land breezes were blowing out. There were a bunch of people on the beach
either walking, some kids were chasing crabs with flashlights. We walked
down the beech for a good mile or more. I knew I needed to start drumming
up the courage to ask her, but it was hard to find the right place in the
middle of our conversation. So this led to me stopping and looking at her
and then walking more and stopping and looking at her, which I'm sure she
was thinking, get it out already. So finally I just did it, got down on
one knee, and said "Alilia Rose Martin will you marry me?" her
immediate response was "Of course Olin". So we spent the next
hour or so walking up and down the beach watching the kids chase the crabs
talking about stuff that we felt previously we could not talk about. Where
to live, jobs, the future, after that I took her home, and that was the
night. |

Olin had already graduated and was working at Florida Hospital Orlando. I
was finishing up my last semester, so we were having a temporary long distance
relationship. I knew it was coming sometime because Olin's not the type to
just date a girl for the fun of it. He asked my dad for permission to marry me
before I came down for mid-term break. We had a special date planned for our
two-year anniversary of when we started dating. He took me to the Cheesecake
Factory for dinner in his shiny red RX7. After dinner he said, let's go for a
little drive. An HOUR later, we arrive at cocoa beach. By this time it was dark
out on a Friday night, and therefore was the beginning of the Sabbath. We went
for a walk on the beach and he just kept stopping, and looking at me funny, then
walking some more. We were talking about all kinds of stuff, none of which I can
remember. Finally, he got down on one knee, took my hand and said, Alilia Rose
Martin, will you marry me? I barely let him get the words out, becuase as soon
as he got down on one knee, I knew what he was going to say and I just wanted to
kiss him! So, my answer was, "Of course!!"
